Assistant Winemaker

Craggy Range is a leading family-owned New Zealand winery, established in 1999 and based in beautiful Hawke’s Bay. With a clear aspiration to sit alongside the great wineries of the world, and the long-term support of a 1000-year family trust, we have the time, focus, and ambition to achieve it.

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Assistant Winemaker to join our Winery team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong technical capability, a positive attitude, and the curiosity and drive to continue developing their winemaking career while contributing to the production of some of New Zealand’s most iconic wines.

Reporting to the Winemaker and working closely with the wider Winery team, you will support day-to-day winemaking operations at our Gimblett Gravels Winery, including technical winemaking, laboratory management, cellar coordination, compliance, and vintage support.

The ideal candidate will bring a qualification in Viticulture and Oenology, at least three years’ experience in the wine industry, a strong understanding of wine production, laboratory processes and cellar operations, and sound computer and reporting skills. Just as important will be your willingness to learn, strong communication style, alignment with our values, and ability to contribute positively to a team environment built on shared knowledge, high standards, and continuous improvement.

At Craggy Range, our values guide the way we work. You will join a passionate, collaborative team where learning, development, and shared knowledge are encouraged, and where the right person will have the opportunity to keep building their winemaking career.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and enviably resourced winery with world-class ambition. If you are ready to take the next step in your winemaking career and contribute to the Craggy Range legacy, please apply with your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and interest in the role.
